Anthony Yoel Ortega Martínez (born August 24, 1985 in Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela) is a pitcher who is currently a free agent.
Ortega made his major league debut on April 25, 2009 against the Seattle Mariners. He was called up to help a pitching staff ravaged by injuries to John Lackey, Ervin Santana, and Kelvim Escobar, as well as the tragic death of rookie Nick Adenhart. He took the loss, giving up four runs in five innings of work.[1]
He spent the entire 2010 season on the 60-day disabled list.
Ortega was released on November 17, 2011.[2]
